Eustis Report: The weather was horrible, but the behavior of the AMCA Board of Directors was even worse.  Kevin Valentine, who argued against proposed judging rules changes he thought complicated and exclusionary, was removed as Chief Judge.  Robin Markey, the Assistant Chief Judge, was left in limbo.  Together, Kevin and Robin had contributed more than 50 years of AMCA judging to the club (give or take a decade).  Is it true that the newly appointed Chief Judge has less than two years experience as an AMCA judge (give or take a year)?  The Board adopted some of the proposed judging rules on Saturday, and without any advance notice to members, employed those rules on Sunday.  Details are sketchy, but some motorcycles that had been previously judged were disqualified.  Does this sound like double secret probation?  It may be time for AMCA members to begin asking questions.  Here are some possibilities: Why don't AMCA members elect their Board Members?  Why aren't Board Meetings open to AMCA members? And, why can't an AMCA Member see the latest financial statements of the club?  One more puzzlement: Why aren't proposed rules changes subjected to a period of member review and comment before enactment or enforcement?

All notices are posted to this website by Jeff Alperin, AMCA No. 2674.  Please submit Sunshine Chapter and AMCA related notices to him.
